Matching Success!

Our matching donation drive was a success!  In just a little over a week, our generous supporters sent in $3796!!  With the match, that means $7592 was raised for our shelter!  Thank you to everyone who donated and especially to our 2 donors that offered to match the funds!  We are humbled and thankful that we have such wonderful supporters!

Donation Matching now through November 17th!!

Donate HERE

November 17th, 2009 is the Coastal Bend Day of Giving.  Nine organizations in Corpus Christi will be matching donations to 25 charities, up to $6000 per charity.  The Cattery was not included in the 25 charities to benefit from this event.  While the 25 charities selected are all worthy causes, some of our supporters have voiced disappointment that they can’t donate to us and have their donation matched.

In answer to this, for those of you want to donate to the kitties, we have decided to have a Day of Giving of our own.  Two generous supporters           (1 anonymous and Marie Colson) have each generously pledged matching funds of $3000.  That means for every dollar you donate, it will be matched by these donors, up to $6000.  If we meet our goal of $6000 that will be a total of $12,000 for the cats and kittens of The Cattery!  Think how nice it will be to donate, knowing that amount will double!

Between now and November 17th click HERE to be taken to the Network for Good website, where you can donate any amount of money you would like!  For those of you on Facebook, we will also post the link there.  In addition, any checks postmarked by 11/17 will count towards the match.  Just write “donation match” in the memo field.

The Cattery’s mailing address is:  PO Box 8575, Corpus Christi, TX 78468

We hope you can participate in this wonderful opportunity for our shelter!

A note from the FANTASTIC Katzen Laufen 5K Race Cooridinator:

The Inaugural Katzen Laufen 5K to benefit The Cattery Shelter is excited to announce that 149 runners supported the kitties to the tune of $2,610.00! Texas runners came from as far away as Harker Heights, San Antonio, Belden, and Kingsville plus all the surrounding areas.

Your humble Race Director is blown away by the level of support that was provided for this event! From start to finish, each challenge we faced was answered by a hero who volunteered and overcame!

Huge Kudos and Heartfelt Thanks to:

John Hazlett – for answering a call for help and editing our Katzen Laufen 5K event logo.
Capt. McKinney & CCPD-for the Parade Permit and for being our Guardian Angels onsite.
V.E. Fair- CCISD Athletic Director- for notifying all of the CCISD schools of this event.
Corpus Christi Roadrunners Club- Julie McAllister for website support, Paul and Lupita Nicolaides for all the education, input and onsite supervision at the start/.finish line, Clent Mericle for the Course Certification and Marking, Ed Cheatham for donating marking chalk…what an awesome local group to work with!
Jess Higgins-for bringing in needed sponsor dollars when the “big dogs” told me no.
Duncan & Carie Allred- for braving the cold front Friday night to hand out registration packets, and for returning early Saturday morning to man the Registration Table. Y’all did a great job sorting the results quickly and covering the setup stuff I could not…whew!
Freddy & Dori Ramirez – This event was 100% better because of their help. The experience and help they shared with us was invaluable. As a rookie, I would have never thought of a lead cyclist, wasn’t sure how to set up the water stations, had no budget for course signs. Thanks for the donation of the signs, your time in promoting the event and all the on-site support to make this race a success!
Tina Solecki- for getting up so early on a Saturday and bringing her Mom to help when we were short handed on the course turns.
Michelle Lopez – for volunteering and getting up so early…the spirit was willing but the vehicle was not…I appreciate the spirit.
Renee Boyle- for pre-loading supplies, donating her time and vehicle and moral support when needed.
Lori Hoffmann and KUQI-FOX – for putting together a KILLER promo and donating tons of free air time in support of this event. Thanks, Empress!
Robert Magnon- for the use of his golf cart onsite and for traffic control during the race.
Process Services, Inc. – for being our Awards Sponsor…I personally LOVED the Award Steins!
Armadillo Sport Chiropractic – for donating the services of our Emcee Extraordinaire, Dr. Chad Peters…he was born to be a DJ!
Jeff Easterday & Mountain Glacier Water– for donating 10 cases of bottled water.
Affordable T-Shirts- for an amazing price and fantastic job on the event T-shirts.
Jumping Angels Moonwalk- for donating the Dunk Tank and the Moonwalk for Oktoberfest.
The Katzen Laufen 5K was proud to include Catfish Charlie’s on our event t-shirts in recognition of their donation to support Oktoberfest 2009.

You guys all ROCKED this event! I am so grateful and proud of the end results made possible by each and every persons superb effort and kind heart in supporting The Cattery Shelter with me.

Respectfully

Photo of Martha

Martha is an older cat that showed up at a lady’s house one day.  The lady feared she belonged to a neighbor that passed away and his children let her out because they didn’t want her.  She was definitely not…
